For a good grade, play correctly.
  1. Keep a steady tempo.
  2. Play correct pitches and rhythms.
  3. Maintain a good posture and natural hand position.
  4. Display ease of motion.
  5. Perform the dynamics and articulations.
For a great grade, play musically as well.
  • Maintain an even tone.
  • Project melodies and other important lines.
  • Shape phrases.
In addition to everything mentioned above, perform music which challenges you in difficulty and length to score 100.

Exemplary (grade of A) Consistent tempo and solid accuracy throughout.
Proficient (B or C) Mostly steady tempo, with some melodic and/or harmonic inaccuracies.
Below Proficient  (D or F) Noticeable lack of steady tempo with numerous melodic and/or rhythmic inaccuracies
If you are unsatisfied with a mini-recital grade, you may reperform on a subsequent mini-recital.
