Pianists are tempted to play what they know well. (I often hear the same music coming from practice rooms.) However, we must practice the difficult and/or unfamiliar passages, i.e. what we don’t know.
Memorize “backwards”. First memorize the last phrase, then the second-to-last phrase, etc.
