  • Clap or tap the rhythm. (Feel it.)
  • Memorize as much of the rhythm as possible.
  • Work both forward from the beginning and backward from the end.
  • Invent a fast shorthand. For example:
    • Draw a music ruler.
      |       |       |       |       |       |       |       |      
    • Tap your foot to the beat.
    • Mark the ruler whenever notes begin.
    • Draw squiggles for 16ths.
    • Write S for any 16th-8th-16th syncopations.
