I ask you
to perform
cadence
patterns
at random
until you
play 3 in a
row well.
I deduct
8 points
from 100
for each
incorrect
cadence.
A minor cadence pattern diagrams:

Minor cadence patterns in 13 keys:
(Learn the same one in all keys.)

Remember that the only whole step in a harmonic minor cadence pattern is 34.
 (The rest are half steps.)
A competent performance requires
  • correct pitches (the first time),
  • correct fingering,
  • a steady rhythm (slow tempos are encouraged), and
  • good posture and hand position (make it a habit).
* I monitor your progress from semester to semester. (I do not hear every key
every semester.) Occasionally I ask to hear a key you performed competently
in the past. If it is no longer satisfactory, I subtract it from your list.
